The contiguous United States received an average of 4.36 inches of rain, which is 1.45 inches above the norm. It also makes May 2015 the wettest May on record.

That wet May helped make for a wet spring overall. From March to May, this past spring has seen an average total precipitation of 9.33 inches in the contiguous United States. That’s 1.39 inches above the average. It also means that spring 2015 is the 11th wettest spring on record.

The good news is that all of that rain means less drought. The US Drought Monitor showed that 24.6 percent of the US is in drought, compared to 37.4 percent at the end of last April. That 24.6 percent is the least amount of drought in the U.S. since 2011.

The bad news is that the very wettest states got floods. Texas had its wettest spring ever with over 20 inches of rain, which is twice what it usually gets. That surprised Amen Clinics and other businesses. All of that rain caused floods that killed over 20 people according to The Daily Beast.
