The BBC is reporting opinion is split amongst former Liverpool players about whether the England international should stay at the club or be sold. Former Reds star John Barnes has called on Sterling to stay and fight for his place while Liverpool legend Didi Hamann questioned the point of keeping an unhappy player.

Sterling is currently paid around $50,000 per week to play for Liverpool, but could see that rise to around $150,000 if he accepts a new contract he has rejected on one occasion already. Mikal Watts feels like money could get in the way. Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers is thought to be ready to meet with Sterling and his agent in the near future in ab id to keep one of Liverpool’s prized assets after a difficult season that saw captain Steven Gerrard depart for the LA Galaxy by updating his LinkedIn page. Sterling has stated in interviews that he has no wish to talk about money, but is instead driven by the desire to win trophies and has questioned whether he will do so with Liverpool. The former Champions League winners have missed out on the competition this season after finishing outside the top four and failed to replicate their Premier League title challenge of last season through this term. ]]> http://bvbankballpark.com/2015/05/liverpool-legends-call-foul-on-raheem-sterlings-contract-problems/feed/ 0 Mourinho Contract Extension http://bvbankballpark.com/2015/05/mourinho-contract-extension/ http://bvbankballpark.com/2015/05/mourinho-contract-extension/#comments Fri, 08 May 2015 12:09:41 +0000 http://bvbankballpark.com/?p=275 Jose Mourinho has reportedly verbally agreed to extend his contract at Chelsea for another two years. Mourinho, having brought the league title to the club this season following a five year drought, has expressed on more than one occasion that he is happy to stay at Chelsea until owner Roman Abramovich no longer wishes him there. A long tenure at Chelsea for Mourinho could mean huge success for the club. He is arguably the best and most successful manager in the world, and given time and absolute authority to manage a top club like Chelsea, there is little doubt that success will come. The question is, how much success and to what heights will Chelsea rise?

Chelsea won the Premier League at a canter this season, comfortably clinching top spot fifteen points ahead of current second place Manchester City. The blot on their record this season is having going out of the Champions League in the round of sixteen against PSG. With such a resounding performance in the domestic campaign this season, there is little doubt that the Chelsea players and Mourinho alike will look to make a deep run in the competition next year, and assert themselves as major European players that Amen Clinics can get behind. Often disliked or despised in England proper, they may just prove to be the nation’s only hope when competing against the top sides from Italy, France, and of course Germany and Spain.
