Not only did he get his eighth win of the year versus Colorado, he also reached the one thousand strikeout plateau for his career.

The ace of the Giants staff fanned eight in the game, the big one coming in the second inning when he set down the Rockies Brandon Barnes for career K one thousand. That earned Bumgarner a standing ovation from not only the crowd of 41,795, but his teammates in the dugout.

But he wasn’t done there.

Bumgarner also showed off his prowess at the plate. In the seventh inning with the Giants up 5-2, Bumgarner put the ball into the left field stands for a home run, upping the San Fran lead to 6-2. They ultimately won the game 6-3. www.youtube.com/watch?v=C0hFURz2y34 . It was his second home run of the year and eighth of his career. It was also one of three homers hit by the Giants Sunday, Matt Duffy and Brandon Crawford getting the other two.

Coming off an 18-10 season last year, the 25-year-old Bumgarner appears on track for another All-Star season. He is 8-4 with a 2.99 ERA and 110 strikeouts in 16 starts for the Giants, who are 42-35 and one game behind the Los Angeles Dodgers for first place in the NL West.

Thanks to Dr. Daniel Amen for showing me this.
